My baby called me today, just to say hey. I am all happi and stuff. I was finishin dinners with my dad and we were about to go get my grandpa so we could visit my grandma. And I always get real stressed out and stuff ’cause she’s dying and its hard to deal with. But talking to Dave is like a pick me up, and it helps me deal with tough stuff. Yey for Tru Luv.
Man I forgot today that I didn’t have my weight training class, I walked up in there and there were other guys in there training and then the teacher for the previous class was like, “You guys have class? Whose teaching you guys?” and we were like “uhh… Lindsey?” and he was like “She’s not here today.” and we were like “uwaahhh???”. So yeah I didn’t get to work out for my class, but I’m gonna do it at home. I’ve been meaning to start using the weights we have anyways, but I keep forgetting, or getting busy with other things.
I came over to the WRC and was gonna hang out and have lunch, but I actually got to ennoy one of the programs “Food for Thought” where a woman lecturer talks to the center about events, or things. Today it was on eating healthy, but it can be over anything. And I got to help with the presentation, by clicking the slides, loll.
I had a great time this weekend, lemme tell you ’bout it.
Friday I woke up around 7:00am and got ready for work, I told my boss that I’d come in opening if I could leave at 2:00pm and she agreed. Work wasn’t that bad, the weather felt great and no one was actin tha fool on my tram so its all good. But unit 8 is apparently touchy and I took off “too fast” and it decided not to work, and it was irritating. But eh, no big. So I got off work around 2:00pm -ish and went home, Kris and April met up at my place and we packed their stuff up in my Dad’s suburban, went to HEB, and were on our way to the Texas Renaissance Festival! The best such festival in the nation, I have been told. We got there around 5:30-6:00pm-ish and set up the tents, and Dave and Jerry got there just after we finished setting them up, the bums
. We got all our stuff in the tents (one of these and a 13×12 one room) and got some drinkie-drinks from a local shop and went into Montgomery, or however you spell it, for dinner and to get some torches. Torches like the ones you stick in the ground and light on fire, not like flashlights. So we had dinner at this italian place and then got cups and stuff from a Brookshire Brothers, then we had to go to Wal*Mart anyways for the torches. But its cool, we went back to camp and had fun. We had drinkie-drinks and I decided I should get blitzed where I could actually trust the people around me and have fun. I’m quite sure I embarassed myself, but its all good. We tried to go to bed around midnight-ish but were unsuccessful, there were some obnoxious ravers next to us and they were being loud and stupid. Bleh.
Then we woke up around 8:00am-ish and had some delishush eggs and bacy (bacie? backy? bacee? How do you spell that diminuative?) and got dressed for the festival. I’ll post some pics of us soon as I get some back, I didn’t bring my camera, April and Jerry took the pics. We missed the opening ceremony, and I was a bit bummed, even though I’ve been for five years inna row I’ve never seen it. And this was Jeryy, April, and Kris’ first time commin’. But we did get to see the parade at noon as well as the King’s Proclomation, it was really cool, April took quite a few pics of the King talking, loll. Me an’ Dave had seen it all before, so we went ahead and did our thing, but April and Kris got seperated from us and we were like, “eh, whatever we’ll see each other at some point and find a place to meet back up” and we did. I hope Jerry had fun, he was with us and we weren’t really looking in all the shops or anything, we were runnin around, looking at the people and goin to the shows. Jerry took some pics, me and Dave with the King, woot. I dunno if he managed to get many others though. Anyways, April and Kris said they had fun, and really enjoyed the festival, and Jerry said he enjoyed it too, and that’s what is important. Jerry walked around with April and Kris, after me an Dave left the festival, and they got to watch a blacksmith make something, an iron dragon, I think. We’d been there a kabillion times already, and our bootses was hurtin our feetses, so we went back to camp. We had a nice nap, and woke up after the festival was over, when some random annoying guys were blowing their cow horn noise maker annoyance things. Jerry was there, chillin, and we were like “if you were bored you coulda waked us up” but it was all good, we went to eat at this mom and pop restuaruant called “The Relay Station” and it was hella good. They had the best damn steak ever. Srsly. April and Kris walked around the camp site and had dinner and such. Their cell phone died so I couldn’t get ahold of them to let ‘em know. But they had some pretty good food they said, so that’s good stuff. We didn’t “party” saturday night, we just sat around and shot the breeze and had a good time.
We slept alot better Saturday night, and woke up this morning around… 8:00am-ish I think. We talked abit, took some time to wake up, and then broke camp. We had brunch at McDonalds, which I haven’t eaten at in forever and then I had to say bye to Dave, and Jerry too. Then I drove April, Kris, and me back to my place, where their car was, and we un packed the suburban and said bye and I helped my parents clean it out and such and such and so on. Then I had a nap. And then I had sushi, nom nom nom.
My car radio got stolen today. What the fuck? Sreiously, that radio is a piece of shit and the only reason I got it was because I was tired of putting my CD-player into my tape deck just to listen to CDs. I fucking bought it in 2000 and it was the cheapest piece of shit they sold. Its 7 years old and ITS NOT EVEN WORTH ANYTHING. WHAT THE FUCK?! You couldn’t pawn that piece of shit for $20 bucks. I am so pissed of right now its not even funny. And I call my dad to tell him and he doesn’t fucking answer his phone. What is the damn purpose of HAVING a cell phone if you don’t use it?! I was ON, ’cause it rang about 10 times before it went to voice mail, and I fucking called him for 20 minutes, to see if he wanted me to report it, because its not MY truck its his. Well I didn’t cause I didn’t want to deal with UHPD’s bullshit and its not like they could find it anyways. Ugh, I called his work number and his cell and nothing. I am so pissed off, I wanna stab someone. And I don’t really care about the radio, ‘casue I can get a new one for cheap since my cousin works at a install place, but its not even a good radio!! That’s what pissed me off, there is no value on a 7 year old shit radio at all!! And of course we have to tell my mother and she’s going to scream and yell at me for an hour and make sure I know it was my fault for being a stupid bitch and I should have prevented it from happening by not being so fat and ugly. RRRrrrg, I don’t even have words.
I shamelessly stole this from my friend Kim’s bloggy. I think its pretty cool my name is so rare! How common is your name, guys?

So the international student festival was today, and I didn’t even know about it! But they had their tables set up around the University Center Satilite so I got to eat awesome food. Woot. I had some goose liver patte stuff, some was smooth and some was chunkyish and they were really good. And some fancy french cheese. From the Japanese table I had some wasabi peas, baby cookies, rice crackers and nori crackers. Then there was the Indian table and it was awesome, I had rice pudding, and this awesome sweet potatoe caramelized stuff. Soooo Gooood. And I had some fried pancake thignies, Tina told me what they were called but I can’t remember. It is all good foods! I also had flan from the cuba booth and I can’t remember what else I just ate, loll. It was all good though, nom nom.
I have had a good weekend so far, Friday was a little bleh at work. I bruised the crap outta my legs getting folded up wheelchairs on and off my tram, but the guests were nice and appreciative for a change. I did have to deal with S again on the last tour and he’s all “Amy fuckin got me in trouble, tell her to shut up” because he didn’t wait for me to signal him to go up to the viewing room, and he started the presentation early. Infact, we had two persons in wheelchairs on that tour, and one of them didn’t even get to see the viewing room because when we got upstairs they were leaving. I hope they fire him, ugh. But anyways, I had a good dinner and a nice bath and that was my Friday. It wasn’t too bad, all in all.
And yesterday I worked only one tour, and got someone to cover for my other tours, so I could go see Dave! He had come in for the regional American Chemistry something something meeting here in Houston and one of their members couldn’t make it. So I got to go to the meeting with them, and it was actually fun. I came in a little bit later than they did but I still got to see 4 presentations. The first one I came in on Dave was already there, and the first part of it was neat. Something about finding a special type of catalyst for a certain molecule, or something. But then the guy started talking about the equations used in the experiment and I started zoning out, loll. Dave was totally into it and I just sorta nodded reflexively whenever he did, lolz. The next presentation was cool too, they had applied tension and torque to a DNA strand and they made super coiled DNA and what they called P-DNA, ’cause it looked like what Pauling orginally thought DNA looked like. And that was cool. Then the third presentation we saw was on nano-technology stuffs and the last one we saw was actually one and a half presentations, loll. We went in in the middle of one on Vanadium box thingies and then saw one on bonding stuff, but she mostly talked about how to deal with publishing papers and working for proprietary companies. And after that we met with some of the other guys from the UTD’s chemistry society and waited for everyone else to get finished, and while we did some guy from a vendor invited us to free dinner and free beers with a tour of their lab. It was cool, they made X-ray diffraction and a few crystalography machines, but most of it was for protein crystals, not mineral crystals. It was still cool though. And we had free BBQ and free drinkie-drinks. But it was like 45 minutes away from the hotel where the meeting was and we were like wtf where are we? And everyone was like “we should have drove” because it was like 10 minutes away from wwhere they were staying. Then we went back to the hotel and everyone had ice creams, yey. But then they had to go back to where they were staying and I had to come back here. And I was sad cause I never like saying bye and staying away from him. And my stupid hormones were making me more emotional than usual so I was extra sad. Bler. But I got to see him and we hung out for most of the day. So it was good, I was glad we got to hang out. And we’re gonna get to see each other again next weekend.
Today has been ok, I slept till noon. I was exhausted and my legs are finally looking better (from getting beat up on friday). I helped my dad steam clean the carpet and I trimed a few plants, I’m about to go help him finish as soon as I eat lunch.
I’ve had a pretty good weekend, yey.
So I just had myself an awesome bath. And realised I needed to shave my legs (well I really realised this when I was changing into my work uniform, shorts kinda show off that nasty leg hair), and then I remembered I hadn’t shaved my armpits in a really long time. And then I felt guilty. And I was like, wtf? why the hell do I feel guilty for not shaving? Its my damn body, I do what I want with it. And then I was just kinda wondering about how many women don’t like shaving at all and feel guilted into it. It’s pretty irritating, I mean, if a guy doesn’t shave, he doesn’t feel guilty about it. I don’t think they do, I guess if your a guy and your reading this you can comment to increase our knowledge. And then I remembered I hadn’t shaved my armpits in like 3 weeks, which made me remember I hadn’t shaved them when I went up to see Dave and then I felt even guiltier. Wtf gais, srsly. It is a non-issue with us, it doesn’t bother him and I don’t have to spend extra time in the shower. Why must I feel pressured to shaves? Do guys feel this imovible pressure to shave their faces? It is stupid, blerg.
Anyways, I’m sure everyone wanted to know my deep thoughts and irritation with shavings of armpits.
Whenever I’m chopping up meat to use in a meal I always save the bits that don’t go in the recipe and use them for a stew. I was just thinking of posting it up here so other peeps could use it, since its efficient and a cheap, great for college students . Its not gonna be in normal recipe form though, since it sorta varies on what you have in your kitchen. Most of the ingredients are optional, since it uses all your leftovers and stuff. The only stuff you really need is meat and veggies and water, enough to fill your stew pot at least halfway with.

Need:
Equipments
First off, you gotta have a stove top, or I guess you could make a fire and use the coals for heat transferring… But either way you need heat making and a really big pot. Not like, that little pot you use for rice even though it overflows and is really gross to clean up, like a damn big pot you could put like, a dog in, and not a tiny little shit dog but a kinda big terrier, or something.
Ok, so tonight your preparing some meats of your choice and you like to clean your own meat. Whichever meat your using (except for fish and shellfish) trim it so that there is muscle still attached to the ligaments and fat that your cutting off. Depending on how busy your kitchen is for that meal, either freeze the bits or cook them right there.
Meats
When you decide to cook them, either sear the trimmed bits in olive oil on a pan, or grill them (one of those george foreman grills works fine).
Once the meat bits are done, take them off the fire and make sure your really big pot has a little water in it (about 2-3 cups) put the meat bits and juices in there, turn the fire on low, and start on the next step.
Making stock! If you cook a lot, you usually have boullion laying around and can put 2 teaspoons of the appropriate flavor in your really big pot and fill the pot half way with water. If you don’t really like cooking or don’t have a whole lot of seasonings you can use some other things for a stock base, such as tomato juice, vegetable juices, or tomato paste and water.
Adding Stew Base
First check your pantry for canned veggies. If you have alot of canned veggies (peas, green beans, corn, hominy, mixed veggie, etc.) use 2-3 cans of your veggie of choice. This should have filled your really big pot about halfway. If you don’t like thick stew then add some water and your done! Let it stew for 3 hours and hooray, stew.
Thicker Stew
If you did all of this (except the waiting 3 hours bit), and think the stew still looks thin, there are a few ways you can make it thicker. If you happen to have tomato based spaghetti sauce lying around, put the whole container of that in there. If you actually buy tomato paste and/or canned tomatoes DON’T put the spagetti sauce in there, and instead put in 2 cans of canned tomatoes (diced, whole, it doesn’t matter) and one can of tomato paste. Stir thoroughly, and if it is still too thin, put in another can of paste and stir thoroughly again. Repeat until thickness satisfaction has been met. Let cook for 3 hours on low heat and you have stew.
The Other Bits
But wait, what are all those other ingredients for? Well, I’m going to tell you.
(Veggies)If you’ve got any fresh veggies lying around that you know your never going to use, go ahead and chop them up and throw them in the stew pot. If they’ve started going bad, don’t worry, cut around the bad bits and throw those away, and put the good bits in the stew.
(Beans)Alright, if you saw a bag of raw beans on sale and just couldn’t resist them, but know your never gonna get around to cooking them, here’s your chance! Rinse the beans thoroughly in a bowl or strainer, and drain. Add to the stew, and let sit for about 5 hours on low heat, or until the beans are soft and done. Also, if you just like beans, and keep cans of them around, go ahead and add a can of them if you like. But DON’T add any flavors that have HONEY, SUGAR, MAPLE(unless it has ham or bacon in it, that’s ok), or some variation thereof in the title. A little sweetness is fine, especially if you used chicken or some other poultry, but those flavors are TOO sweet and might throw the rest of the flavors off. If you like really sweet things, then go ahead. Keeping in mind that SPAGHETTI SAUCE, if you used it, has garlic and onion flavors in it, and usually oregano and basil, those seasonings usually don’t mix well with very sweet seasonings.
(Pasta) Ok, so when you got your canned veggies you realised you had a flaming ton of pasta in your pantry and have no idea how you can possibly eat it all. Well luck for you, your making a stew! If the pasta is anything other than angel hair/”normal”/fettucini go ahead toss it in your stew, and when the noodles are soft and squishy your done! Yey, stew. But maybe you bought a Sam’s Club Valu Pak of long noodle stuff, and really want to use some. Well take about 2-3 handfuls of pasta and break it in half, then put it in the stew. If you think that’s still too long for you, break it further until your satisfied. If you think that isn’t enough pasta just add some more until your happy.
(Seasoning) Add just about anything you like to it, EXCEPT salt. Remember guys, you just put like 3 or more canned goods in there, you don’t NEED any more salt!
The Best Bit
Now we are at the best bit! You just made a stew, and you might not know what that means, so let me share.
It means you can eat for at least four days now without doing ANYTHING except heating up your bowl of stew.
Also, if you keep adding water or other stock to the stew it can last even longer, pretty much until you decide your damn tired of it, or until you get your next paycheck! The best kinda food for poor college students, and once you have it all cooked you just have to reheat it!
The End
Alright, that’s everything! I hope you guys find this useful, if you have any questions just reply and I’ll answer
