Frustration [edit]

There is no hot water, it makes me angry! We haven’t had hot water for 4 days! I can’t take cold showers, and I can’t take cold baths. This is very frustrating. I can’t relax my muscles with stupid cold to tepid water. Grrrr!

[edit] Hot water has been restored! Finally! At like 2230, praise the tides, or something.

Valentine’s Day

I’ve been meaning to blog about it forever! But I’ve been busy and tired. Anyways.

I had to work on Valentine’s Day but I got off around 1900 and we had reservations at The Blue Fish in Addison. It is a really snazzy sushi bar slash Japanese resturaunt. I got offa work and changed shirts, and me an’ Dave drove to Kim and Byron’s. We all drove to The Blue Fish and they had lost our reservation! I was there when Dave called them and made the reservation and everything. And they were like, “We don’t have a reservation for Birdwell, what’s your first name?” And it was irritating! But we did get seated within ten minutes so it was ok. They had the best sushi I’ve ever had! We didn’t actually have sushi, technically, we had maki. Maki are the rolls, they’re really common in American sushi bars. But the quality of ingredients was exquisite! I could not believe it! All of us shared an appetizer of summer rolls, which were like egg rolls but not fried and with rice flour instead of egg flour. Then we all shared about 5 maki. It was almost too much. The food was so rich and perfect, it practically melted in my mouth. Kim and Byron even ordered a tuna roll, of the type that usually make me kinda ill. On the account they have scallions in them, which are the most nauseating food ever! Disgusting! Anyways, they ordered a roll of this type, and I thought to try it, and not only did I not get ill  from the taste, as I usually do, it actually started tasting good. And everything else was just to die for! I had some plum wine, and it was perfectly sweet, with a little bit of tartness to it. And Byron and I shared some great sake.

Afterwards we drove to a grocery store and got some ice cream, and drove back to Kim and Byron’s. We hung out and ate some ice creams, it was really fun. Kim was all excited ’cause she got outta lab early and they had lotsa fun before dinner.  Their doggy, Hera was  being kinda snotty, but she is still a puppy, and all young animals are little snots.

We stayed out a bit later than intended, I had to work again in the morning. I worked the midshift I think, fortunately not the open! We open at 800 and that is too damn early! It means I gotta wake up at 600 to get ready and be there on time! But Dave and I had our own fun and we slept great.

It was an exciting Valentine’s Day, I’ll have to remember The Blue Fish for my Bday.

Busy

I just realised that I haven’t blogged in a while. Well, I’ve been pretty busy! I have a job now, but not a career job. I’m working for 8.00 at a cafe type place, and its ok. There are worse jobs out there, my old one being one of them! But my hours are really strange and aren’t the same hours every week. They just fired 4 people too, for stealing food. So my hours are about to get weirder.

My parents have decided that they have to visit Dallas this weekend, so Dave and I are going to eat dinner with them tomorrow evening. They were nice enough to bring up the stuff I couldn’t fit in my truck. That makes it sound like I brought a bedfull of junk up here, but I didn’t. It was raining and stuff on the drive up, so I had to cram everything in my cab. Fortuneately its an extended cab so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Living with Dave is great! He doesn’t get pissed off that I’m “ruining” his kitchen when I cook stuff. And if I don’t want to clean up right away, its not the end of the world. And it is the awesome being able to snuggle up with him every night. I’m actually sleeping all the way through the night now. I don’t recall ever doing that before, its kinda strange but in a good way.

Not much exciting has happened, really, other than moving up here with Dave and getting a job. I need to update my cooking blog soon also, but right now I’m gonna eat. I’m starving!

Moved

I finally moved almost all my stuff up to Dallas on Thursday, and I am here, to stay. It is very exciting business! I have a new job now, and I start my orientation and training on Monday. Then I finally start getting monies, woo!

Leslie helped me move up on Thursday, and Friday I just kinda cleaned and loafed about. Dave and I went shopping for my new work shirts today and then had some yummy “Hawai’ian Fried Rice” at a little chinese resturaunt, and then went grocery shopping. We’re relaxing and about to cook dinner right now. Chicken curry! I am excited, I’ve never had curry before. It is so refreshing to cook for someone that doesn’t yell at me for messing up their kitchen, and doesn’t tell me my food is too spicey. Yey for me.
