Parents

I have been lazy!! My parents came up to visit way back in February, on the weekend of the 16th, and here it finally is!

My parents drove up to Addison to “shop”, or something, on Thursday. And they wanted to spend the weekend together. I was really dreading this, since my parents threw a complete fit and went nuts when I moved up here. And that was the last time I’d seen them. I was really not looking foward to this at all, because they always treat me like I’m still eight and it is very embarassing and humiliating. Especially in front of David. But I was pleasently suprised with their visit. They stopped by at like 9:00am Saturday, and neither of us were up. And we hadn’t cleaned the apartment either, it was a real mess. But they didn’t really insult me or anything about the apartment and we just sort  of talked for a bit. And then we went to go eat lunch.

We ate over at Bagelstein’s, this really good jewish resturant. I had a barley soup, because I’ve been wanting to try one for evers, and a liverwurst on rye. It was delish! And I got some cookies too, for our cookie jar.  Then we went up to IKEA and looked around, and it was really fun, except Dave kept running off because he hates shopping and has no patience. We actually got alot of stuff too, a nice new sautee pan with a lid, so I can make german style fried potatoes woot. And we got some cutting boards, and nice jars to put in sugar and flour, and we got a rug, and some mixing bowls, and some other stuff I can’t remember now. But it was great, we used up the rest of our gift card and then my parents helped us out with the rest. And I bought a tub of lingonberries, and a little jar of cloudberries, and I got Dave some salty licorice fish. He really liked them, yey.

Afterwards we went to the mall, and shopped around a bit. My mom wanted to go look at clothes, and I hate clothes shopping, so me my dad and Dave went to the Dave n’ Buster’s and drank a few beers and snacked on some nachos.  It was fun, we talked and  relaxed. Then my mom was done clothes shopping and made me come look at some stuff she found, nothing in the stores looked good at all. It was all poorly designed or badly colored or both. Blech.

After that we stayed at the mall but my mom and I wandered around and looked at abuncha stuff, and then the guys went off somewhere, and my mom tried to make me get my hair cut, but I was like “Um no, that is a stupid waste of time and lots of money” because it was. But then we got ripped off at a hair accesory place, and I kinda feel bad for it. I got the nice berret thingies that I can wear when I want to look a bit nicer than usual, I can’t wear my earring anymore because the holes grew in. But it was way too much, I thought it might be twenty dollars or something, but it was way more and then I felt really bad ’cause my mom insisted on getting them. We were so ripped off! RRRrrrg.

But after that we went to a german resturaunt called The Bavarian Grill and it was soooo good.  My dad and Dave and I had some good beers while we waited for a table. My mom yelled at us of course, because she hates alcohol. I think she had a glass of wine though, I’m not too sure. When we finally got a table we were on our second beer and already knew what we wanted. I had a roulade, and man it was good, with some delishush spinach stuff as the vegetable and those noodle dumplings that I loooove. But I can never remember the name for them. I only ate half of my plate and I was too full!! I’d never been this full before, lol. We could barely make it out of the resturaunt, we went home and had ourselves a hardcore nap!

Anyways, that was what happened back in February, and Dave’s dad and step-mom came up to visit for Dave’s graduation ceremony this past weekend, May  5th. I’m gonna blog about that later though. I’m a little tired of typing! lol.

Yey!

So this past Saturday Dave had his graduation ceremony. My baby has his B.S. woot. But now he is gonna be getting his doctorate up at U.N.T. We already got the apartment, and it is a very nice one! We haven’t moved up yet, we are going to start on Monday or Tuesday.

This weekend we are going down to Houston to visit our familes for Mother’s Day. I thought about going to my ceremony, but it is a minimum of 2 hours and I have to be there an hour early! Blech. I think Dave and I are going to hang out with Megan on Friday night, and depending on when we arrive we might spend some time with April and Kris. Or if my friend Jennifer is in down, I need to give her a birthday gift also.

We are taking my truck down to Houston so we can bring up the stuff there wasn’t room for in this apartment and move it into our new apartment. I think my mom is gonna give us her “formal” couch too. It is a nice couch, and free!

And on Saturday, if we didn’t see april and kris already we are going to hang out with them, and if we did we are going to Lake Jackson to spend time with Dave’s mom and step-mom. Dave’s dad and step-mom are leaving for Africa on Monday! Exciting! We still haven’t gotten our mothers anything for mother’s day though, we need to go shopping! It is kinda hard though, Dave’s mom is really sensitive to perfumes and such, so we can’t get her lotion, soap, candles, or anything like that. I dunno what to get my mom, she likes really tacky stuff and I don’t. Maybe a fountain or potpuri or something. And I think I know what we could get Freda, but Dave doesn’t remember the colors or anything of her lamp berge! So I guess a scent or something might work, instead of an accessory.

Monday we are going to pack up everything in my truck and at some point me and Leslie are going to IKEA of Houston to shop around and spend some time together. I most likely won’t get anything but it will be fun to look and talk. I don’t know if Dave will come with us, he hates shopping around and looking he is always running off and getting impatient.

But we will come back Tuesday morning and move all my furniture and junk into the new place. Woo!

We will have to put down a bug bomb in our current place over the weekend because  of roaches :( We never had a roach problem until this semester, it is disgusting! They come in from the ceilling!! And our  one wall that we share with another apartment. It pisses me off so much!! We keep our apartment clean and because other assholes leave their food and shit all over the floor we get roaches!!!  I can’t wait to move into our new place!

Dave and I went to look at apartments up in Denton today, and we got a really nice one! Two bedrooms with 837sq.ft. total at $595.00 a month. Our first month is also half off, very exciting! There is no gas, it is all electric, but that is ok with me. I’m just so excited that we did this together. It was a little irritating that we both had to fill out forms, but if we had been married we would only have had to fill out one and pay one application fee, but whatever. I’m thinking of having a party thing after we get moved in to celebrate, I am very excited!
