I was watching Iron Chef America and had to blag about this silly judging quote. The food was Blue Foot Chicken, and the Iron Chef made one dish with fried chicken. The sauce was honey based, and one of the judges was like “I always put honey on my fried chicken, this is great” and this other judge was like “Oh you do?” and he was like “what’s wrong with that?” and the other judge said “Well, you’ve just never had fried chicken, is all.”
It was lawls, because it was true.
I found a cool soap site. When I has the monies I think I will get some soap from them.
You can check it out if you want.
Well, I finished the seventh book in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (I don’t believe in spoilers so don’t run away!). It was ok. I think it is the weakest of the seven books. Reading it I felt like she had rushed the book and had not really given it the attention she had given the other books in the series. There were scenes that just sort of fell together. I know that there were some chapters that were meant to feel chaotic and hectic, but it did not feel that way at all when I read it. They felt disjointed and hasty. There were so many more things she could have done, and places she could have gone with the characters (figuratively gone, mostly) than what transpired in the book. Mostly while I was reading the characters felt very flat in comparison to her other books. In all her other books the characters are very animated and life like, I find it easy to feel for their situation, if not empathize. But in this book I didn’t really feel. There were many scenes where I should have felt various emotions strongly, but they just fell flat. They read very bland and generic.
My overall opinion on this book is that it is that it is the weakest in the series. If you haven’t gotten it yet then there is no need to rush and fight for it. It isn’t a good enough book to warrant all the hassle associated with such a trendy read. Either rent this from your local library or borrow it from a friend when they finish.
My final opinion will come after I’ve read it again, and have had a chance to study it and go over it, instead of trying to immerse in the story.
I feel awful and grumpy. And dave is watching his stupid YTMND and giving me a headache. I just wanted my neck rubbed, GRR! Dave rubbed my neck, I feel a little bit better. I’m still really grumpy. I hate my hormones.
Anyways, I preordered the Harry Potter book, and am excited about it. I got it from Hastings and I hope I can pick up a copy. The cashier was having serious issues with getting it to work. There was apparently another Amy Chitwood in the databases. That never happened to me before, it was weird. Dave and I are going to the midnight party thing at Hastings tonight, so eyey.
I just ordered from pizza hut, ’cause dave wanted their calzone things, and apparently they call you back and if you don’t answer you don’t get your order. I haven’t ordered from them in like, 4 years, but this is really dumb. I can’t imagine prank ordering pizzas is that huge of a deal that you have to have it confirmed. Blech. I wanted to eat at Tina’s Pizza but it is more money than pizza hut.
Well, me an’ Dave are back home now. We helped out carrying the heavy stuff and organizing the small things. The service was in Loving, Texas (17 miles east of Olney, there isn’t a Wikipedia article for it.) and that was actually only 2 hours from where we are. I met most of Dave’s relatives on his mother’s side and Dave got their information so we can keep in contact. The last time they had all been together was when Dave’s grandma died, 13 years ago. We stayed in The Pipliner Inn in Olney, Texas. It was 45.00 a night, but man, that town… The only place open after the viewing was Subway and the Golden Chick. It was weird and creepy. Everyone looked cracked out and on meth or something.
Anyways, we went down Friday night to help Mary sort through Roberta’s things and move all the heavy stuff, but they went to Waco. We sorted out some clothes and took a load to the Goodwill place. Saturday we did some work in the morning but then Dave and I went to meet with my parents and my cousin Jason and his new girlfriend. We were gonna eat a this really nice all-you-can-eat seafood and sushi buffet. But my mom pitched a huge fit and made a scene in the resturaunt, instead of telling us she didn’t want to eat there. She insisted she have only the soup and nothing else andthey only charged a flat rate for the buffet so they wouldn’t do it. I do think it was pretty dumb that she couldn’t get just soup, but I understand that it makes it easier on them to see if anyone is stealing or not if everyone is eating the buffet. But the point is she should have told us she didn’t want to eat there, instead of making a scene. We ate at BJ’s instead, which is good, but she complained and insulted me because I drank two beers, and I wasn’t driving. Ugh. Anyways, other than my mom being my mom we had a good time. Mary and Dale got to Roberta’s that night. The next day we thought we were gonna get a Ryder trailer but it took until 1:30 is or later. The one U-haul closest was closed and the other didn’t have the biggest trailer. Dave and Mary had to drive to some U-haul pretty far away to get it. And Dave couldn’t drive Dale’s truck because it was too full to push the driver’s seat back far enough for him to drive. But after all the mess we managed to get the apartment cleared out pretty well. Ben and I packed up some things and put them in Roberta’s old car. I stuffed it as full as I could get it in the trunk and back seats, it was packed.
None of us wanted the couch, and the bed was too large to fit in the trailer, so we were going to get Goodwill or the Salvation Army to come and pick it up, but they were closed. We managed to find a neighbor that needed them though so that was cool. And at some point while me an’ Ben were taking a load to Goodwill Roberta’s neighbor came over and helped to clean out the apartment. She was so nice! She helped us out a lot. Me an’ Ben were pooped and took a short break, I felt a little bad since the neighbor was packing up the kitchen, but we had been working all day. Also, Dave and I stopped by Half-Priced books and I got 2 books, Christopher Rowley’s new stuff and a little compilation of something called the “Chrestomanci series”. I left that one at Roberta’s on accident though, and I was almost done with it!! RARGLE I need to know!!
Anyways, that evening Dave and I went to dinner with my cousin Jason on his side of town and stayed the night at his place. We had sushi and it was great! The prices in the Houston area are so much cheaper than up here! Dave and I stuffed ourselves to the brim on sushi maki and sushi nigiri. It was great-great-great! Dave payed for me and felt so happy. I got to have sushi with Dave and my cousin Jason. I got to be with my cousin-that-is-practically-my-brother, and my lover, and I got to eat my favoritest food. Great times! And that night Dave and I had our own room and finally got some one on one time for the first time in five days. Five days is way too long! I was so stressed out, it was nuts.
Anyways, I just got done trimming Dave’s beard. I was nervous that I’d make it look silly, but I think it’s ok. Dave fidgets so much! He is like a little kid! But he seemed satisfied with the results, and I didn’t make him look silly. I’m going to try and go to bed now, later.
Life has been weird this past week. My friend from Houston, Adam, came up to visit and it was awesome. He was driving a GT convertible and we got to ride in it, and I even helped him pick out some locations to film it at (he is a journalist, I don’t think he has a blog or I would link it). We shot the shit and had some Slurpees and generally a good time was had by all. But on Saturday Dave got the news that his aunt had passed away and we are going to her memorial service on Thursday. We still gamed on Sunday night, and it was a pretty good session (we play DnD). Yesterday we went back down to Richardson so I could hang out with Almeda, Jenny, and Chelsea, for a “girl’s night out” sort of thing. But Kim and Byron were at the sauce. I managed to miss hanging out with them and drinking the beers and I was actually in town. Irritating! Oh well, we can hang out with them some other time. I was disappointed though because I like The Flying Saucer’s beer, they have tons! But when we finished up hanging out and I called Dave they were getting their tab. Lame. Anyways, we hung out some more over at Jerry’s place, and they watched the swearing episode of Penn & Teller’s Bullshit. It is a pretty funny episode, I do like the show, but we don’t actually have a copy of any of the seasons. Some of the episodes rile up the blood though, so usually we don’t watch those twice.
And way back on Tuesday we got Franklin some worm medication, because there were eggs in his stool. The stuff smells like fish so it is easy to medicate, but it kind of made him a little unhappy. I think it made him nauseous or something, since the effects of over-dosage are vomiting and muscle seizures. But he was fine a few hours later. Anyways, we finally got our supplement in so I can give him a raw foods diet. It is much cheaper on us and better for him than dry or canned food. There was no trying to convince him to eat his chicken! As soon as I set his bowl down he started eating it all up!
Well, it is pretty late, Dave and I had a really weird night and morning and such. We slept until 3 today, about twelve hours total. And I feel so bleh, because I got way too much sleep. I always feel crappy if I sleep too much. It doesn’t seem to affect Dave though. I might have a blog tomorrow, but we are going to be gone from Thursday to Monday I believe.
I applied at a staffing agency but they don’t really do clerical work, they do labor stuff. Like construction clean up and waste management and other such stuff. I don’t mind working these jobs, I kinda like breaking a sweat and doing tough work. But I’m pretty irritated that I wasted 4.5 years of my life on a degree that has so far been nothing but trouble.
Anyways, yesterday we got to hang out with our friends from Richardson and we saw the movie Hot Fuzz at the dollar theater. It was a most hilarious movie, I recommend getting it on DVD or watching it a the dollar theater if you can. Good stuff. Anyways, we hung out most of the day, until elevenish at night. I was hoping that we could have come back earlier but I did have fun and enjoyed myself. Amanda got me some birthday gifts too! I was really excited about it. No one ever gets me birthday gifts, at least in my experience back in Houston, in the past. She was embarrassed about them for some reason, so I opened them in the car on the way home. She got me some spiffy stuff, some nice girly stuff, lotion and such, and a cool dragon. I have him sittin on my desk with my other dragons.
Anyways, I think Dave is takin me out to eat, so later!
I wish all my fellow Americans a fun and safe Independence Day. For this day, July fourth, is the day we celebrate the declaration of the United States of America as being its own unique and sovereign country seperate from England. Huzzah!
It is time for ribs and steak and hamburgers and sausage and chili and meat and meat and more meat!! And potato salad, and coleslaw and beer!! May everyone eat till they puke and drink till they pass out!!
And hopefully the fireworks technicians are sober when they set them up. Lets go eat and drink and watch some explosions!! WOOO!
I am no longer angry. I made chili and now it is reducing. I can not wait for it to be ready!
