Random Cougar Life

about my days off

my last two days off I had to spend with my parents, because they drove up from Houston to harrass, I mean, spend time with me. Dealing with them is so fucking stressful.

Friday I got to listen to my mom tell me how filthy our apartment is and how we’re living like white trash. This is actually an improvement, usually she tells me we live like “N-”. I hate racial slurs so I’m not going to write it, but I’m sure you can imagine what a racist white woman might have said as an insult that starts with the letter n.
so while being called white trash was an improvement on my mother’s part, it still pissed me the fuck off. She’s in my god damn home, I don’t care how shitty it is, she doesn’t have any right to insult me, dave and our home like that.
pissed
me
off
godsdamnit I was mad.
and to make matters more frustrating she insisted on packing the living room. That would be nice, except she can’t fucking pack and hates every proof of my independence and immaturity so she threw everything into boxes and tried to break the things she didn’t like. Fucking pissed about that too. She tried to break my $30 DnD mini by tossing it in a box with books and heavy shit. She threw books in boxes so that it looked like something shit a box full of books, instead of placing them in the box so that, you know, they filled it up. the only things she didn’t try to break were my games, and only because she thought all of our games were david’s and she kept saying “TELL ME WHAT TO PACK AMY, I DON”T WANT DAVID TO COME HOME AND CUSS ME OUT FOR MESSING UP HIS STUFF”
she screamed it at me, that’s why it’s in caps
THAT pissed me off too, for multiple reasons. She thinks so poorly of David that she thinks he’d scream and cuss and pitch a goddamn fit just because she helped up pack. She thinks so poorly of me that she doesn’t care if I get mad.
ALSO we don’t have to move out until May 30th, and that was may 2nd that they came up.
We did have lunch with David and it was nice, we at a Fera’s, this cheap but delish Italian place by the university. And I had leftovers that I managed to save for Sunday, when I worked.
And we did throw out that nasty ass chair we never used anyways, which was nice, but there are boxes there now.
My parents stayed until Dave came back home, and then they stayed and made everything uncomfortable for a while.
Dave brought our friend, Jason, with him because we game on Friday nights, and my parents don’t know how to deal with people, at all. It was awful, and they even stayed when Nick, one of our other friends, came over. I honestly thought they were going to make us kick them out. I don’t care if I “should” have been spending time with them, they insulted me in my own home, and they insulted Dave in our home. Never fucking do it to his face, just talk shit about him to try and make me leave and move back in with them. pisses me off
anyways that was friday.

Saturday started off nice, I got to snuggle in with Dave, until my parents called us. But it was at like 9:30a when they called, which I guess is normal hours or something, but I told them we’d call them when we were ready.

We woke up and got ready and called them at eleven, and then my mom wanted to go outside and walk. Like, exercise walking, not strolling around enjoying a park or spending time together or something. She wanted to work out with us because we’re fat. She didn’t say we were fat, but she said we needed to get out and walk. we hadn’t eaten yet, since we thought we were going to have lunch together. We did go eat lunch, but my parents had already eaten, so it was me and dave eating lunch with my mom making faces and sounds of disapproval.

in case you didn’t know, eating makes you fat and ugly, you should never eat, especially breakfast

yeah, that’s my mom’s fucking gospel, she has coffee for breakfast, with maybe a donut, eats nothing or maybe a cheap ass burger or sandwich for lunch, and eats nearly nothing for dinner. So her body is always starving, so her body is always storing fat and burning muscle, she doesn’t care, she doesn’t even BELIEVE that. That is lies to make you fat.

whatever, anyways lunch/breakfast was a disaster.

Dave is attending a seminar thing in June up in Denver, CO and I’m not going because I’d be bored to tears (also we can’t share a room which pisses me off but whatever, I’m over that) and I’d rather work and save my paid time off for a vacation we can both enjoy.

so my mom keeps fucking harassing me about being alone for a week. Oh no, I’m alone, wah. But she’s like “your going to get raped, someone’s going to rob the house, you have to have a friend come over and stay with you so you aren’t alone, I need their number, give me 3 numbers we can reach you at if you don’t answer your phone, if you don’t answer your phone we’re calling the police!” and all this bullshit about stupid crap that no one can control and then she’s all “take the whole week off and come to houston, we’ll take care of you, you won’t have to worry about anything take the week off, fly down to houston, you don’t have to drive, you’ll be safe, we can fly you down on your days off if you need to work, we’ll fly you down. Take off, come to houston, you need to stay with us, fly down to houston” and she’s going on and on and on.

And then Dave says “you worry too much, stop worrying, you can’t control any of that”

and my dad says “Shut your mouth”

WHAT THE FUCK

SERIOUSLY

Still pissed off about that too.

anyways, that pissed dave off, that they tried to treat him like a child re:(how they treat me) and he left. I followed him, and that pissed them off. They were like “AMY get back here! NOW!” and shit. My dad came out and apologized and we went back in, I finished my lunch but my MOM fucking let the busboy take away dave’s plate. Dave was not finished with his lunch, and she just sat there. I know she did it out of spite. That’s how she is, mean and spiteful. That made me mad, but dave wasn’t mad about it.

So our day got off to a GREAT start.

And then my mom was bothering us about our sofas we have, and reminding me how shitty they are and she just couldn’t believe that we were going to take them with us, so we went to a furniture place. we looked at furniture and woo, was it “fun” man. I was bored as soon as I walked in, but really can’t stand my mom’s whining and bitching, so we went. Afterwards we went to a comic shop, because it was free comic book day, and my mom stayed in the car because she doesn’t care about spending time together. I got some more DnD minis and dave got some free comic books.

then we went back to the apt to see what there was to do out side, and mom complained every ten minutes about what the hell were we waiting for, we need to get outside. Finally we found something cool, a big cat sanctuary, called C.A.R.E., out by Decatur. My mom made snide comments because they have “research” in the name of their organization, and she kept ignoring me when I told her they rescued cats abandoned by irresponsible owners. Idiots that think wild animals make great pets, and then freak out when they start getting bigger than them and eating 100+lbs of meat a day. Seriously, she just ignored me, when we got there she asked the tour guide.

but that place was great, I had an awesome time there. It was the best part of the day. I got to feed some chicken to one of the tigers, and we got to see a lot of big cats. They were lovely, but it made me mad too, because they should not need to be there, but assholes keep buying them, and keep throwing them out when they get too big. One of the tigers had even be declawed, it was awful. Because her toes are gone the rest of her foot bones are going to wear down her feet until the bones are coming out of the skin. That shit makes me mad.

But besides that, it was really nice to be able to go there. The tigers chuff as a greeting, and I chuffed back when they did that. Dave, my mom, and dad, did not. They got sprayed at by three tigers, it was funny. None of the tigers tried to spray at me.

After there, we went to the Ponder Steakhouse. it was awful. Our neighbor recommended it and I thought we’d try it out. Well, apparently STEAK is not what one goes there to eat. Me and Dave shared a porterhouse, only instead of being delishushes it was fail. first off they cut it in half. that made me mad, if I wanted a half assed steak I’d have ordered one. Also they charged THREE DOLLARS to cut the steak.

Yes.

$3.00USD to CUT an already cut steak, in half. I didn’t even want them to do that, and i didn’t even know they were GOING to do that, as they didn’t say anything about it. assholes

and I was especially NOT expecting it because I ordered rare, and dave ordered medium rare and they ASKED me if medium rare was ok, so I said sure.

AND THEN the steaks came out medium WELL and WELL!! WHAT THE FUCK

HOW do you fuck up RARE and MEDIUM RARE so badly? I don’t know. We had to wait again, for our steaks to come out. And they were not grilled over an open flame, but cooked on a griddle. And while the meat was interesting, it was not something I’d eat again.

To say it was gamey was generous, I like gamey food this steer at some ass or shit or gods know what. It was interesting to try and figure out what the hell the steer ATE, but that is not usually why I eat beef. Now it was very tender and marbled nicely. But that hardly makes up for the taste being so… interesting. I have no idea what your supposed to order at this place, but clearly steak isn’t one of them.

so I was still hungry after we ate there, and when I said so my mom harassed me about being fat.

We came back and sat around and had some beer and stuff, but it was only relaxing for a little while. My mom didn’t want to be social so she walked Franklin. I didn’t care, Franklin loves being outside. And then my parents left, but kept not leaving, they just kept saying “We need to go, we need to leave, we gotta go” but they didn’t leave!

Finally they did leave.

finally

but we watched a movie later that night, at the movie tavern. We watched it there because I was STILL HUNGRY and also I needed a drink. I really wanted sushi, but we didn’t eat that, I ate at the movie tavern, Dave got me dinner, got the beers. We watched “forgetting Sarah Marshall” which I thought was going to be awful but it was actually good. I enjoyed it, it was a fun movie.

cons

Me an dave went to wizard-con this year. It was much less fun than last year. Last year we spent all day in the dealers room, there were tons of merchants with all sorts of crazy wares. This year was disappointing, there were way fewer merchants and the gaming room wasn’t even set up. It was lame.

Eh.

Life has been weird this past week. My friend from Houston, Adam, came up to visit and it was awesome. He was driving a GT convertible and we got to ride in it, and I even helped him pick out some locations to film it at (he is a journalist, I don’t think he has a blog or I would link it). We shot the shit and had some Slurpees and generally a good time was had by all. But on Saturday Dave got the news that his aunt had passed away and we are going to her memorial service on Thursday. We still gamed on Sunday night, and it was a pretty good session (we play DnD). Yesterday we went back down to Richardson so I could hang out with Almeda, Jenny, and Chelsea, for a “girl’s night out” sort of thing. But Kim and Byron were at the sauce. I managed to miss hanging out with them and drinking the beers and I was actually in town. Irritating! Oh well, we can hang out with them some other time. I was disappointed though because I like The Flying Saucer’s beer, they have tons! But when we finished up hanging out and I called Dave they were getting their tab. Lame. Anyways, we hung out some more over at Jerry’s place, and they watched the swearing episode of Penn & Teller’s Bullshit. It is a pretty funny episode, I do like the show, but we don’t actually have a copy of any of the seasons. Some of the episodes rile up the blood though, so usually we don’t watch those twice.

And way back on Tuesday we got Franklin some worm medication, because there were eggs in his stool. The stuff smells like fish so it is easy to medicate, but it kind of made him a little unhappy. I think it made him nauseous or something, since the effects of over-dosage are vomiting and muscle seizures. But he was fine a few hours later.  Anyways, we finally got our supplement in so I can give him a raw foods diet. It is much cheaper on us and better for him than dry or canned food. There was no trying to convince him to eat his chicken! As soon as I set his bowl down he started eating it all up!

Well,  it is pretty late, Dave and I had a really weird night and morning and such. We slept until 3 today, about twelve hours total. And I feel so bleh, because I got way too much sleep. I always feel crappy if I sleep too much. It doesn’t seem to affect Dave though. I might have a blog tomorrow, but we are going to be gone from Thursday to Monday I believe.

what the crap?

Me an’ Dave are officially moved into our new place up in Denton. We had to go back down to the Richardson place one last time and clean it out with a vacuum and some cleaners and stuff. And ok, we have been living up here in Denton for a week or a little more already right? And we back down there to clean and we see five huge german roaches. Fiiiiive or more or them. There was nothing in that apartment except dust!!! What the crap man? Seriously! I’m so glad we moved out of that place! It might have been an apartment but it was worse than a dorm, at least the dorms I’ve been in didn’t have roaches! Rar!

Seriously.

Just, seriously, what the crap. Nothing in that apartment and we find gross huge adult roaches. Blech.

Parents

I have been lazy!! My parents came up to visit way back in February, on the weekend of the 16th, and here it finally is!

My parents drove up to Addison to “shop”, or something, on Thursday. And they wanted to spend the weekend together. I was really dreading this, since my parents threw a complete fit and went nuts when I moved up here. And that was the last time I’d seen them. I was really not looking foward to this at all, because they always treat me like I’m still eight and it is very embarassing and humiliating. Especially in front of David. But I was pleasently suprised with their visit. They stopped by at like 9:00am Saturday, and neither of us were up. And we hadn’t cleaned the apartment either, it was a real mess. But they didn’t really insult me or anything about the apartment and we just sort  of talked for a bit. And then we went to go eat lunch.

We ate over at Bagelstein’s, this really good jewish resturant. I had a barley soup, because I’ve been wanting to try one for evers, and a liverwurst on rye. It was delish! And I got some cookies too, for our cookie jar.  Then we went up to IKEA and looked around, and it was really fun, except Dave kept running off because he hates shopping and has no patience. We actually got alot of stuff too, a nice new sautee pan with a lid, so I can make german style fried potatoes woot. And we got some cutting boards, and nice jars to put in sugar and flour, and we got a rug, and some mixing bowls, and some other stuff I can’t remember now. But it was great, we used up the rest of our gift card and then my parents helped us out with the rest. And I bought a tub of lingonberries, and a little jar of cloudberries, and I got Dave some salty licorice fish. He really liked them, yey.

Afterwards we went to the mall, and shopped around a bit. My mom wanted to go look at clothes, and I hate clothes shopping, so me my dad and Dave went to the Dave n’ Buster’s and drank a few beers and snacked on some nachos.  It was fun, we talked and  relaxed. Then my mom was done clothes shopping and made me come look at some stuff she found, nothing in the stores looked good at all. It was all poorly designed or badly colored or both. Blech.

After that we stayed at the mall but my mom and I wandered around and looked at abuncha stuff, and then the guys went off somewhere, and my mom tried to make me get my hair cut, but I was like “Um no, that is a stupid waste of time and lots of money” because it was. But then we got ripped off at a hair accesory place, and I kinda feel bad for it. I got the nice berret thingies that I can wear when I want to look a bit nicer than usual, I can’t wear my earring anymore because the holes grew in. But it was way too much, I thought it might be twenty dollars or something, but it was way more and then I felt really bad ’cause my mom insisted on getting them. We were so ripped off! RRRrrrg.

But after that we went to a german resturaunt called The Bavarian Grill and it was soooo good.  My dad and Dave and I had some good beers while we waited for a table. My mom yelled at us of course, because she hates alcohol. I think she had a glass of wine though, I’m not too sure. When we finally got a table we were on our second beer and already knew what we wanted. I had a roulade, and man it was good, with some delishush spinach stuff as the vegetable and those noodle dumplings that I loooove. But I can never remember the name for them. I only ate half of my plate and I was too full!! I’d never been this full before, lol. We could barely make it out of the resturaunt, we went home and had ourselves a hardcore nap!

Anyways, that was what happened back in February, and Dave’s dad and step-mom came up to visit for Dave’s graduation ceremony this past weekend, May  5th. I’m gonna blog about that later though. I’m a little tired of typing! lol.

Exciting!

Dave and I went to look at apartments up in Denton today, and we got a really nice one! Two bedrooms with 837sq.ft. total at $595.00 a month. Our first month is also half off, very exciting! There is no gas, it is all electric, but that is ok with me. I’m just so excited that we did this together. It was a little irritating that we both had to fill out forms, but if we had been married we would only have had to fill out one and pay one application fee, but whatever. I’m thinking of having a party thing after we get moved in to celebrate, I am very excited!

Busy

I just realised that I haven’t blogged in a while. Well, I’ve been pretty busy! I have a job now, but not a career job. I’m working for 8.00 at a cafe type place, and its ok. There are worse jobs out there, my old one being one of them! But my hours are really strange and aren’t the same hours every week. They just fired 4 people too, for stealing food. So my hours are about to get weirder.

My parents have decided that they have to visit Dallas this weekend, so Dave and I are going to eat dinner with them tomorrow evening. They were nice enough to bring up the stuff I couldn’t fit in my truck. That makes it sound like I brought a bedfull of junk up here, but I didn’t. It was raining and stuff on the drive up, so I had to cram everything in my cab. Fortuneately its an extended cab so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Living with Dave is great! He doesn’t get pissed off that I’m “ruining” his kitchen when I cook stuff. And if I don’t want to clean up right away, its not the end of the world. And it is the awesome being able to snuggle up with him every night. I’m actually sleeping all the way through the night now. I don’t recall ever doing that before, its kinda strange but in a good way.

Not much exciting has happened, really, other than moving up here with Dave and getting a job. I need to update my cooking blog soon also, but right now I’m gonna eat. I’m starving!

Moved

I finally moved almost all my stuff up to Dallas on Thursday, and I am here, to stay. It is very exciting business! I have a new job now, and I start my orientation and training on Monday. Then I finally start getting monies, woo!

Leslie helped me move up on Thursday, and Friday I just kinda cleaned and loafed about. Dave and I went shopping for my new work shirts today and then had some yummy “Hawai’ian Fried Rice” at a little chinese resturaunt, and then went grocery shopping. We’re relaxing and about to cook dinner right now. Chicken curry! I am excited, I’ve never had curry before. It is so refreshing to cook for someone that doesn’t yell at me for messing up their kitchen, and doesn’t tell me my food is too spicey. Yey for me.

sleepy [edit]

Much stuff has happened since my last bloggings, but I don’t feel the energy to write a blog about it right now. Perhaps tomorrow, when I’m less tired I shall let you know how my first week of the new year has been.

Yeeaahhh about that blogging thing. Today is 01-21-2007 and I’m finally getting around to this…

New Year’s Eve Dave and I went first to Kim and Byron’s party. Only it was a dinner party and I sorta didn’t catch that. But never fear, we were not under dressed. I was chatting with Kim and telling her we didn’t have any plans for New Year’s Eve and that I wanted to wear my sexy dress. I never get to wear sexy dresses. It’s only fun when Dave is there though. Anyways, she was like, well I’m going to have a party then, bring some stuff. And I was going to bring some champaign and wine, but when Dave and I left for Dallas my mom had put it in the fridge to keep it cool, for some reason. So we forgot it and were like “D’oh” but we got some wine in Dallas, at, unfortunately, Wal*Mart. And the champaign there too. But Kim was like, what food are you bringing, so we brought canned green beans. It was the lamest food there, I was sad. Bew. Anyways, when we got there everyone else was all spiffed up, but no one else was wearing a tie, and Dave was like “I’m over dressed, its so akward, no one else has a tie on” and I was like “phbbt”. Because really, oh noes its a tie! It was a cute tie too. And he looked smexy. Rowr.

So we stayed there for some really awesome dinner, sitting down at the table and everything! It was really awesome ribs, and chicken. I didn’t have any chicken but Dave really liked it, so I’m sure it was good. And there was a delish salad, and some kinda vegetable, and our lame green beans, and really nifty dip. It was black eyed pea dip, it was sort of like a pico de gallo, but with beans added. Very nice. And there were brownies and tarts. They were both soooooooooo good. I loved those tarts, all pecan-y and fig-y. Nyom nyom nyom.

And after the diner there was supposed to be a wine tasting competition, but we had managed to be invited to 3 parties! This is the second time I’ve been invited to any party for New Year’s Eve, and this Eve we had 3! Excitement

We also left around then because it was nine and all the idiot drunks weren’t on the roads yet. So we arrived at our second party of the night, Mellissa’s party, I think it was. But it was at Nathaniel and Brian’s aptartment. There was much food to be had there also, but we were too stuffed to eat any more. We stayed for an episode of Metalocalypse and chatted, but we had another party to get to before it got too late to be out.

We went over to Jerry’s and had a little party there, and stayed there to ring in the new year. It was very fun, and very quiet. I don’t like humongous loud shindigs, at least for New Year’s. I am aware that that is stupid or something, but New Year’s just isn’t like that for me. We had some Wal*Mart champaign for the toasting and got fairly snockered. Or blitzed, I don’t think I can spell snockered, but maybe that is correct. And when we toasted was when Dave shared with me the knowledge that he would like it if I moved in with him. It was very exciting!

And then we celebrated when we got home.

And that was my New Year’s Eve, and stuff. The rest of the week was much pleasentness all around. Except it was cold. I hate the cold. Booooo cold.

Silverster

Huzzah, today is New Year’s Eve. Me and Dave are going over to Kim and Byron’s around 7 for a fancy shingdig thing. I just wanted an excuse to wear a sexy dress for the evening, and was talking to Kim the other day. She was like, yeah no one has plans and so she made some plans. So we’re going over there until around 9 or 10, then we’re going over to Jerry’s place. Gonna party hardy, drink some drinks, smoke some hookah. This New Year’s Eve is looking to be more promising and much better than last years!

Happy New Year’s everybody!
